Privacy Policy

This notice describes personal information we collect when you visit canonvale.com, request closed-alpha access, or later use Canonvale if you are invited. It does not speak for third-party sites or model providers we do not control.

Contact

Market support: help@blackgatestudio.com. That address is customer support. It is not a dedicated privacy officer and not a dedicated incident or breach contact. We have not published a separate privacy-request address.

The site links to Discord as a community. Discord is a third party with its own terms. If you open that link, you use Discord’s service. We do not send your waitlist email to Discord. Discord is not our privacy or incident contact.

What we collect on this website

Closed-alpha request. If you submit the form, we collect the email address you enter. The public form sends that email to our waitlist endpoint. There is no consent checkbox. Submitting the form does not create a Canonvale account and does not guarantee an invitation.

Hosting and security. This site is hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process technical request data to serve the page and to run security checks. We do not claim we have no telemetry.

Payments. We do not collect payment card numbers on this website. Closed alpha is free. The page lists later commercial prices of $15 per month or $150 per year and states there is no checkout on this page. Those listed prices are not billed to closed-alpha participants. Billing is not integrated in the current product.

Preview. The product preview on the homepage is a mock. It is not a live product session.

We have not added marketing pixels (for example Google Analytics, gtag, Meta, PostHog, or Mixpanel) to this site.

If you later use Canonvale

If you are invited and use the product, it is built to persist world and project content you create — including lore and files, characters, memories, relationships, chat history, snapshots, rewind and branch history, exports, and image or speech you generate in the product.

Your model keys (BYOK). If you provide a provider API key, current product code stores that key on our side, encrypted, so the product can call the provider you chose. That encryption applies to stored keys. It is not a claim that we encrypt every other kind of data. Supported providers listed on this site: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and OpenRouter.

Prompts and generation. When a generation runs, the prompt and relevant story content are sent to the provider you selected, along with the decrypted key. We do not run a company-owned stand-in for those providers. Those providers have their own terms. We do not control how long they keep prompts or whether they use them to train models.

Sign-in. This marketing site has no sign-in. Product application code is written to use a third-party identity provider (Auth0) if you later sign in to the product. That is a statement about current code, not a claim that a live login is running on this page.

If you use Share a Copy, another Canonvale user receives an independent copy of that world. Provider keys are not included.

Who we share it with

• Model providers you choose, if you use BYOK generation: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and OpenRouter.
• Cloudflare, as host of this site and as the designed store for waitlist emails.
• Discord, only if you choose to open that community link.

We do not operate Stripe, Sentry, or Google Analytics in the current product. That is not a promise we will never add them.

We do not publish a “we do not sell” or “we never share” claim.

How long we keep waitlist email, and how to remove it

Waitlist entries are designed to expire after 365 days.

To remove your email sooner, email help@blackgatestudio.com and ask us to delete that email from the waitlist. We will delete that email from the waitlist. That is not a full account-erasure process. We do not claim we delete product accounts, identity records, databases, or stored world content on request.

We do not have a general, followed retention schedule for product account and world data.

What this notice does not claim

This notice does not claim:

• that we encrypt all data in transit or at rest
• that we offer multi-factor authentication
• that we have a certified security program
• that we are GDPR compliant, CCPA compliant, COPPA compliant, or FTC compliant
• that the product has an age rating, or that it is or is not directed to children
• that we have no telemetry
• that we never send prompts to third parties
• that we bill closed-alpha participants or collect cards on this site
• a formation state or a governing-law state
• a dedicated privacy officer

Audience and age are not recorded as a product decision on this page.

Changes

If we start using personal information in a materially more permissive way (for example a new kind of sharing, or using content to train a model), we will update this page and give clear notice before that practice starts. We will not bury a more permissive practice in a quiet retroactive edit.
